About the program

The Materials Science and Engineering Co-op program from Drexel University offers classes and research at the forefront of materials for energy, nanotechnology, biomaterials, electronic materials, soft materials, computational materials science and advanced materials design and processing that prepare you to take on the demands of industry or to continue study in a doctoral program.

Graduate Co-Op Program

Graduate co-op is an optional three or six-month work experience woven into academic studies for full-time master’s students. Drexel University co-op provides the opportunity to apply theory learned in class to a work experience before graduating. The insights help to direct the vision you have for your career and provide context for the remainder of your learning. You will take advantage of resources from the Steinbright Career Development Center, including programming that enhances your professionalism and resume writing and provides resources for your job search.

Starting fall 2024, students that select this option will now have access to the Steinbright Career Development Center job matching platform and will move their co-op cycle from summer to fall. For students interested in the Graduate Co-op program the best time to start is in the fall so students have access to all the resources available to them.

Some program highlights include:

  • Opportunity to earn money gain professional experience as an engineer
  • Students may work in a lab to gain valuable research skills
  • Most positions are paid, and most are fulltime
  • Average weekly pay is around $1098 per week
  • International students – considered CPT and does not affect OPT
